Facts you should know if you're going to do business online today:

20 Years Online Has Taught Me These Things:

  • You don't ever have to mislead someone to sell stuff. If you do, it will keep you from being happy with the work you do.

  • Before you copy anyone else, make sure they share your goals, vision, and priorities.

  • All traffic strategies work for the right person at the right time in the right place, even the ones that make no sense.

  • If someone tells you a tactic or strategy is dead, they're trying to sell you something. Odds are very high that the thing they mention works. Well.

  • The harder a thing is to do, the better it will work.

  • Lazy is the way of the web, so put forth a touch more effort than others, and you automatically become the easy choice.

  • You don't matter until you're helping. Then, you only matter as long as it continues.

  • Be strategic with your content because content alone is not a strategy.

  • You can't help everyone (with very rare exception), and even if you can, you should target whoever you help most.

  • Traffic is just math, and the more you can pay to acquire a customer, the more likely you'll win.

  • Our attention spans have shrunk. Something that worked 8 weeks ago can easily be repurposed and should work again.

  • You're the reason. For almost everything. If you can't fix it, get out of the way and find someone who can.

  • None of the big companies owe you anything, and if you're not paying for it, you're the product.

  • Most funnels are garbage and are designed based on useless data from the early internet. Create fun, cool experiences and customers will love you.

  • If you're not paying, you're praying. Organic traffic is great, but you have no control. Get some basic ads working to control your sales flow.

  • Your business is a series of processes. Lead generation, sales, marketing, follow up... Any one that you ignore costs you money.

  • Deviating from what everyone else does could be enough to make you stand out.

  • Algorithms can change and destroy you at any time. Do everything you can to control your reach and flow of traffic.
